Prevalence of Rare Variants Associated with Monogenic Diseases in Pre-contact Caribbean Communities

چکیده
Genomic technologies in archaeology have been used to study migration patterns, origin of and genetic similarity between ancient populations. Researchers are, however, just beginning employ these evaluate the genomic health communities. In this we screen publicly available whole-genome sequencing data pre-contact Caribbean individuals for presence pathogenic mutations causing monogenic diseases. Our results show that communities from Ceramic Age (3100–400 BP) had an unusually high frequency variants associated with three conditions, Classical Phenylketonuria, Hypohidrotic Ectodermal Dysplasia LRRK2-Related Parkinson’s disease. The estimated analyzed samples is severalfold higher than contemporary Three conditions classified today as rare diseases thus might much prevalence past. Studying history will expand list larger

Associating rare genetic variants with human diseases
Citation: Zhang Q (2015) Associating rare genetic variants with human diseases. Genome researches have revealed that a large portion (over 50%) of genetic variants on human chromosomes are rare variants (RVs) with extremely low allele frequency (usually defined as less than 1%) in populations. In recent years, advances of DNA genotyping and sequencing technologies have been facilitating the dis...
متن کاملThe expanding spectrum of rare monogenic autoinflammatory diseases
Monogenic autoinflammatory diseases are a group of hereditary disorders characterized by a clinical and biological inflammatory syndrome in which there is little or no evidence of autoimmunity. The discovery of the first causative gene in 1997 was rapidly followed by the identification of many others from the same group. The mutated proteins can be directly or indirectly involved in the regulat...

A leading cause of death in western countries is sudden cardiac death, and can be associated with genetic disease. Next-generation sequencing has allowed thorough analysis of genes associated with this entity, including, most recently, titin. We aimed to identify potentially pathogenic genetic variants in titin. A total of 1126 samples were analyzed using a custom sequencing panel including maj...

Background: Identifying lower extremity defects during high impact activity, such as landing, especially in young athletes who play team sports, could help to prevent non-contact lower extremity injuries. The Tuck Jump Assessment (TJA) is a screening instrument designed to recognize neuromuscular deficits related to Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury. The current study investigated the pre...
